Ribs 'n' Kabobs in Artesia runs a halal special for every day of the week it is open: Taco Tuesday, Wings Wednesday, Tandoori Thursday, Fish Friday and slow-cooked weekend specials like haleem and goat biryani. Every special is 100% Zabiha Halal, so if you have been searching for a halal Taco Tuesday near you, this is it. Here is what each day brings and how to plan your week around it.
Ribs 'n' Kabobs is a family-owned, HFSAA-certified, 100% Zabiha Halal BBQ and grill restaurant at 18925 Norwalk Blvd, Artesia, CA 90701, serving Los Angeles County, Orange County and the rest of Southern California since 2014.
A quick note before the days. Specials can change, and the kitchen sometimes swaps a dish when a delivery or a holiday calls for it. The menu page always shows what is on today, so check it before you come. We are closed on Mondays, which is why the week below starts on Tuesday.
What is the halal special on each day of the week?
| Day | Special | What it usually involves |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Closed | The kitchen rests |
| Tuesday | Taco Tuesday | A regular beef or chicken taco |
| Wednesday | Wings Wednesday | Six wings in any flavor |
| Thursday | Tandoori Thursday | Chicken Tandoori Boti with one side |

| Saturday and Sunday | Weekend specials | Haleem, goat biryani, rib eye and more |
Where can I find a halal Taco Tuesday near me?
Halal tacos are harder to find than they should be in Southern California. Plenty of taco spots serve great food, but most do not use zabiha meat, so Muslim families often skip Taco Tuesday entirely. At Ribs 'n' Kabobs the tacos come from the same certified kitchen as the ribs and kabobs.
On Tuesdays the special is a regular beef or chicken taco. The Beef Taco is a traditional street asada taco, and the Chicken Taco is a traditional street taco. If you want more heat, the regular menu also has the Tandoori Taco, made with spicy tandoori chicken. For a fuller plate, the Lunch Taco Plate comes with two tacos and a choice of rice or fries.
Ribs 'n' Kabobs in Artesia serves Beef, Chicken and Tandoori Tacos made with 100% Zabiha Halal meat.
Street tacos in general are small, so most people order a few. Add Masala Fries or a mango lassi and you have dinner.
What wings can I get on Wings Wednesday?
Wednesday is for wings. The special is six bone-in wings in any flavor, grilled and tossed in sauce. The sauce list is long enough to try a new one every week:
- Mango Habanero (spicy)
- Korean BBQ
- Tandoori (spicy)
- Dragon sauce (extra spicy)
- Jamaican jerk (mild)
- BBQ
- Spicy BBQ
Korean-style BBQ sauces are usually sweet and savory, so that is a good place to start if you do not want much heat. Jerk is the mildest of the bunch. Dragon sauce is for the person at the table who always orders the hottest thing.
If six is not enough, wings come in 6, 12, 18 and 24 pieces on the regular menu, which makes them an easy add for a family table or a game night.
What is Tandoori Thursday?
Thursday belongs to the tandoor flavors. The special is the Chicken Tandoori Boti with one side. Boti is cubed chicken thigh marinated in traditional tandoori spices and cooked over our lava rock grill until the edges char.
It has real heat, so pair it with something cooling. Hummus, green salad or a side of basmati rice all work. If you are not sure whether tandoori is your style, our guide to choosing between malai, koobideh and tandoori kabobs compares all four chicken skewers.
What is on the menu for Fish Friday?
Friday is fish. The special is Tandoori Fish with one side. The fish is a seasonal fillet marinated in traditional tandoori spices, so the exact fish can change with the season. Fish and seafood do not need zabiha slaughter, but everything is still cooked in the same certified halal kitchen, with no pork and no alcohol on site.
Fish Friday at Ribs 'n' Kabobs is Tandoori Fish, a seasonal fillet in tandoori spices, served with one side.
We are an easy drive from Downey and Lakewood, and a fish plate with rice is a lighter way to end the week before the heavier weekend dishes.
What are the weekend specials?
Saturday and Sunday are when the kitchen makes the dishes that take time. Weekend specials rotate, but they have included:
- Haleem. In South Asian cooking, haleem is generally a thick, slow-cooked stew of meat, lentils and grains, cooked until the meat breaks down.
- Goat biryani. Layered rice and goat, a step up from the Chicken Biryani on the regular menu.
- Rib eye. A rib eye steak as a weekend special. Our post on halal steaks in Artesia covers the steaks we serve.
- Brisket Weekend Special. Hickory smoked brisket, low and slow.
The lineup changes from weekend to weekend, so check the menu on Saturday morning to see what the kitchen is making.
Are the daily specials halal?
Yes. Every special, like everything else on the menu, is 100% Zabiha Halal. The restaurant has been certified by HFSAA, the Halal Food Standards Alliance of America, since it opened in 2014, and their standard is published at hfsaa.org. If you want to know what that certification actually checks, read our post on what zabiha halal means.
